  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • pinch salt
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 teaspoons milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon almond extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add cold butter and almond paste; mix until crumbly. Press half into the baking pan.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, lemon juice, cornstarch, cherries, sugar, butter, and salt until thickened.
  4. Pour cherry mixture over the crust and sprinkle remaining crumb mixture on top.
  5. Bake for about 42 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely before cutting into squares.
  6. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and almond extract; drizzle over cooled bars.
