Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, cumin, garam masala, turmeric, smoked paprika, and salt. Add the chicken chunks and mix well. Allow them to marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt unsalted butter. Add marinated chicken pieces in batches if necessary. Cook until golden brown on all sides. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add chopped onion. Sauté until translucent. Then add minced garlic and grated ginger; cook until fragrant. Stir in chili powder and tomato puree. Allow to simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Return cooked chicken to the skillet. Pour in heavy cream and stir well. Season with salt, pepper, and sugar (if using). Let simmer on low heat for another 10 minutes.
