Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix (15.25 oz)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup brown sugar (for caramel sauce)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (for caramel sauce)
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (for topping)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional for extra richness)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter (for caramel sauce)
  • Pinch of salt (for caramel sauce)
  • 2 tbsp butter (melted for topping)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your Bundt pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the cake mix, sour cream, vegetable oil, eggs, milk, and vanilla until smooth. If desired, fold in semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. For the caramel sauce, combine brown sugar, heavy cream, unsalted butter, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until thickened, about 5-7 minutes, then remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  5. Toast the pecans in a skillet with melted butter and granulated sugar until golden.
  6. Once the cake is cooled, drizzle it with caramel sauce and top with toasted pecans.
