  • 1 teaspoon maple extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 cup sifted confectioners’ sugar
  • pinch salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  2. Cream softened butter and dark brown sugar using a mixer until smooth. Add egg, maple syrup, vanilla, and maple extracts; mix well.
  3. Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed. Fold in chopped pecans.
  4. Cover dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C) and prepare baking sheets with parchment paper.
  6. Roll dough into balls (about 1.5 tablespoons each) and place on baking sheets with space in between.
  7. Bake for 12-13 minutes until lightly browned around the edges but still soft in the center.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on sheets before transferring to wire racks.
